The church registers from parishes of the Protestant Church of Baden beginning in the mid-16th century are available on microfilm at the Archives of the Protestant Church in Baden situated in Karlsruhe. Since the reformation the protestant church records have been written in German. For data from 1 January 1870 on forward, the local civil registry offices (in German: Standesamt) are responsible for personal/marital status cases. Please contact the respective civil registry office for any information younger than 1870.
Our archive library is available at our reading room and holds literature in reference to local history and geography of Baden as well as to general church history regarding the Protestant Church of Baden. It also includes several volumes of scientifically compiled family registers for specific towns in Baden based on the respective protestant church records. Microfilm readers and work stations for archive users are limited, therefore appointments are required in advance.

If you happen to find anything interesting in the records you can even download the specific entry to your computer.
